sleepy

the blankets are
heavy on my chest

so heavy

heat fuzzes
over me

the monochrome
with streaks
of color at the lines
fast-forward
fast forward
at the forefront
of my mind

but round browns
overwhelm,
puddling
through the cracks

warmth strums
through my muscles

my mind is in
a lilac mood

if my brain were busier,
it would notice
the galaxies
behind my eyes

but my body is
immoveable,
soft,
vulnerable,
in the warm blackness

this is how

Like clouds love to cry

And the sun loves to smile

Like mountains love to sleep

Like hot cocoa loves marshmallows

And like marshmallows love a campfire

And like the firewood loves to be

Damp on a camping trip

Like bubbles love to pop

Like my shoe loves to crunch a leaf

Like pancakes love to stick to the pan

Like rain loves gloomy days

Like bobby pins love to lose themselves

Like an escalator loves to trip me

Like my computer loves to pretend

That I didn’t save my document

Like my hair loves to go frizzy

Like my nail polish loves to chip off

Like my feet love the dewy grass at 2 am

Like freckles love to make

Constellations on your face

I love you.
